Description

Warehouse, stable and coach house built shortly before 1821 by Samuel Cooper, a Barnsley linen manufacturer, as base for putting-out yarn to domestic weavers. Warehouse, of three storeys and basement, and six bays long, has ground-floor offices; detached pedimented stable and coach house.

My 3x gt. grandfather William Hydes was in partnership with Samuel Cooper. Trade directories show that they operated their business as linen manufacturers from St Marys Place, this is probably the building they operated from. I'm thrilled to find it as I have very little information on the Hydes.
