My mother (nee Bateman) used to refer to a mill in Cleckheaton as being “Peg Mill” and asserted that it had once belonged to her paternal grandfather. In my limited research, I see that there is a type of mill referred to as a “peg mill”, perhaps alluding to its mechanism. Does anyone know the history of ownership of this (or other Cleckheaton mills) which may have been connected with a Bateman family? Many thanks.
