Mirfield is a small town and civil parish within the Metropolitan Borough of Kirklees, in West Yorkshire, England. Historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire, it is located on the A644 road between Brighouse and Dewsbury.

During the 18th century, a canal was constructed through the town linking the River Calder with other rivers in the area. The canal is part of the Calder and Hebble Navigation. Its construction resulted in many industries in Mirfield, such as the textiles and boat yards.

Hello,

I am trying to trace some of my ancestry and understand that a mill in Mirfield may have been owned and run by my gr gr grandfather Waller. He was in partnership with a chap called Lockwood for a number of years before running the mill himself. Any information you have would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Kind Regards, Harvey Waller
