Established early 19th century as water-powered worsted-spinning mill. Steam power added by 1851. Mill largely rebuilt in late 19th century as building of two storeys plus attic and ten bays. Privy tower projects on rear wall. Boiler house and economiser house attached to mill at one end, range of warehouse and offices at other. Mill dam survives to rear.
