Water-powered cotton-spinning mill built c1803 and converted to worsted spinning in 1828. Original mill, of two storeys and attics, six bays long, heightened by one storey in late 1850s. Internal end waterwheel replaced between 1859 and 1862 by short-lived steam engine and by large waterwheel in attached end wheelhouse. Early 19th-century warehouse and cottage joined to mill.
