Woollen mill established in 1819 and expanding rapidly to fill island site between River Colne and Huddersfield Canal. By 1835 site included four multi-storeyed mills used for all stages in woollen manufacture, with both powerlooms and handlooms, dyehouses, heated cloth dryhouse, finishing shops, and steam power plant. Very large-scale and early development of mechanically powered integrated working in the woollen branch. Demolished.
