Three-storeyed nine-bay water-powered cotton-spinning mill built by Robert Heaton in 1791-2. Mill repaired after fire in 1795; adjoining warehouse and cottage added in 1790s and later enlarged: Engine house and boiler house added in 1850s, shortly after mill converted to worsted spinning; new engine house built in 1893.
