Steam-powered woollen-weaving mill, c1875. There were never many specialist woollen-weaving mills, and Upper Carr has an unusual form, with a shed eighteen bays long but only one bay wide with attached engine and boiler houses. Site also included dyehouse and dryhouse. Further sheds added later for worsted spinning.
