Woollen mill, possibly established in late 18th century as water-powered scribbling mill but surviving today as mill of c1825 and later. Site comprises two main mills c1825, four storeys, eleven bays, and c1875, three storeys and attic, seven bays) with engine and boiler houses and chimney. Early mill incorporates fragments of original structure, with mullioned windows, and has unusual plan with engine house set one bay in from gable.
