Steam-powered woollen mill built in 1888 by local manufacturer. Unusual single-storeyed layout with all departments in integrated mill housed in two blocks of sheds. Main block had engine house centrally on one side, with preparatory processes (willeying, scribbling and carding), spinning, weaving, and wet and dry finishing processes arranged around it. Dyehouse, warehouse, further willeying space and offices made up smaller shed, sited across a narrow yard from main block. Similar layout to Alverthorpe Mills, Alverthorpe with Thornes.
