Description

Steam-powered flax-spinning mill built by Benyons and Bage in 1802-3, the multi-storeyed mill and contemporary warehouse and hand-heckling block being the first fireproof textile mill buildings in Yorkshire. Integration achieved by addition of weaving shops for handlooms in 1804-5. Later additions included gas plant of c1815. Demolished.
